The moral of the ancient fable “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is clear: Don’t make a false report, or people won’t believe you — even when you tell the truth — and won’t take the correct action. Fast forward to today, when America is led by a president who cries wolf. President Donald Trump regularly makes false claims, denying the truth and substituting his made-up version of reality. He demands we believe whatever he says, denouncing anything contradicting him as “a hoax.”
